Pumpkinhead

"For each of mans evils, a special demon exists. You’re looking at vengeance. Cruel, devious, pure as venom. Vengeance." Pumpkinhead tells the tale of a man who loses what he loves most, his only son. Eds son dies in his arms when some city folk accidentally hit his son with a dirt bike and flee the scene, Ed Harley seeks revenge. He finds it in the local tales of an old woman with powers who lives deep in the forest. And in Pumpkinhead, the demon the woman incites to kill those that wronged Ed.

We all know it. When a group of city folk go to the country they always manage to piss off the locals. This ones no different. The group is full of unlikable characters, from the bad attitude tough guy, to the spineless wimp, the mentally unstable girl, the nagging bitch.... they're all here. And me? I want them all dead. And that's where the fun begins.

You see, Pumpkinhead is an awesome looking demonic force. Part Alien, part raptor, all awesome. It can do it all, from stalking its prey silently, to brute force. And it does it with style. One of my favorite kills is when he pulls Maggie over the the house by her head, afterward, cutting a cross into her forehead with its claws. Not long afterwards we see her head poke up in a window, palmed by Pumpkinhead, it slowly pushes her skull through the window, smashing the glass and impaling her body on the shards.

And Eds interactions with Haggis... creepiness! She's just so evil. For a frail looking, blind old woman, she's fucking frightening. She just emanates dark power. And one can only feel that she has lived a long time, guarding Pumpkinhead, waiting for those that seek revenge.

When I brings the body of his boy to Haggis in order to appeal to her for revenge, he doesn't know what he's in for. At first he seems fine with the thought of Pumpkinhead killing these kids. But then he learns the horrible truth. Ed looks on through the eyes of the beast as it slowly tears the children apart. Beating them, crushing them, stabbing them. He is wracked with pain as he watches. He wants to call it off.

Pleading with Haggis to stop it, she says there is no way, it must run its course. If Haggis cant stop it, Ed will, but Haggis warns that it will only bring about the final part of his revenge sooner. Ed attempts to save the children. In a final showdown at his farm, Ed begins changing. His eyes become demonic, bloodshot. He hisses, much like the creature he wishes to destroy. As he stumbles into a pitchfork, Pumpkinhead screams in pain. Ed sees now. The only way to kill it is to kill himself. He hides in his pick up, opens the glove compartment. A revolver. He levels it to his head and pulls the trigger...

Pumpkinhead lies on the ground... but recovers. Stupid Ed. Couldn't even do it right. He stumbles from the truck, drops the gun, and tries to drag himself to it. Pumpkinhead is almost on him, but Tracy grabs the gun. Ed begs for her to kill him. She struggles with the thought for a second, gazes into Eds demonic eyes, and knows it has to be done. She shoots him multiple times. He lies dead, Pumpkinhead collapses and its body bursts into flames.

We see Haggis carrying a body, she takes it to the pumpkin patch graveyard and buries the disfigured corpse in Pumpkinheads grave. The necklace that Billy made for him around his neck... Ed has become the next Pumpkinhead.

The effects are great, the creature is great, its a nice and dark little fairytale like movie.
