Hellraiser: Revelations

Hellraiser. I love Hellraiser. I have a Chatter tattoo and one of the Lament Configuration too. So I generally go into these movies with a high bar, but a bit through each one I always remember that they probably won't live up to the first two. So after reading up a bit on this new movie, I took that usually raised bar and pretty much threw it onto the floor. Did this last minute entry into one of my favorite mythos live up to the expectations I set for it?

Antichrist

If you ever wanted to see a woman slowly lose it, eventually drag her husband to hell, and do unspeakable things to her clitoris, then watch Antichrist. Also if you don't like to much dialog, want to see a fox eating its own guts, and get really confused about whats going on, whats real, whats not, and in typical art house fashion, leave the movie going "What???" Then Antichrist is for you. If none of this interests you, see it anyway 'cause Antichrist was pretty good.

The Exorcist III

"But the main thing is the torment of your friend Father Karras as he watches while I rip and cut and mutilate the innocent, his friends, and again, and again, on and on!" Thats why you don't exorcise little girls. Thats why you don't fuck with Captain Howdy. Things like being possessed by serial killers and that very same creature happen to you. And then you know what? You end up in a mental hospital, brains like jelly, for fifteen years, until finally the serial killer inside you has managed to pull your brain back together. Then you know what? He uses you to take control of catatonic old people and then uses THEM to kill people in horrible ways.

The Devil Inside

Ok, so I am going to try to keep this one fairly spoiler free. Short and sweet: I enjoyed this movie. The ending was abrupt and anticlimactic, unsatisfying, but everything up until that point was good.

When Isabella was five her mother killed three people during an exorcism. Her mother was tried, found not guilty by reason of insanity, and taken to a mental facility in Rome by the wishes of the Catholic Church.

The Omen

Beautiful, classy horror. That is The Omen. Not relying on shock, or boos, or gore, this movie does it all with a sheer sense of dread and a dark foreboding atmosphere.
