Incident at Loch Ness
Incident at Loch Ness. Mockumentary or documentary? Ok, its a mockumentary but it's so well done that it would easily pass for a documentary. It's about famed documentary director Werner Herzog. He is looking to make a new documentary on the Loch Ness Monster, not really about finding it, but about why it "exists". About it's legend, it's mystery, and it's importance to people and why we debate its existence so much. So it's a documentary about a man making a documentary. His struggles with his crew. His conniving, power hungry producer. And the local townsfolk.

Demons
I've heard of Demons before. I knew it was a movie that was supposed to have a decent amount of gore. But I never really took the time to read about Demons. When I decided to watch it today, I was pleasantly surprised. I went in expecting a sorta typical possession movie, or maybe a normal monster movie affair. What I got, however, was a high energy Italian Splatter flick! Get ready for some blood, gore, and demon puke cause here it comes!

Silent House (2012)
The original The Silent House was a 2010 Spanish horror movie about a girl and her father restoring a house. As time goes on a horrible secret begins to unfold and horror ensues. Its greatest achievement was the amazing feat of being shot in one solid shot. No cuts, fades, just a single shot. I've yet to see it, so I can't say if it was good or bad. So how does the American remake handle this technical feat? Is it just another "meh" American remake or does it strike it's own chord?

Shaun of the Dead
Part horror movie, part comedy, all good. While I think it gets a little overblown, Shaun of the Dead is a great movie and definitely one of the better zombie movies around. I love that it touches something that we have all thought about, "what would you do in a zombie outbreak?" Shaun goes over his fantasy, plans it out, and executes it.... sort of.

Hellraiser: Revelations
Hellraiser. I love Hellraiser. I have a Chatter tattoo and one of the Lament Configuration too. So I generally go into these movies with a high bar, but a bit through each one I always remember that they probably won't live up to the first two. So after reading up a bit on this new movie, I took that usually raised bar and pretty much threw it onto the floor. Did this last minute entry into one of my favorite mythos live up to the expectations I set for it?
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
Dr. Maggie Burroughs works a youth correctional center helping troubled kids get their lives together and back on track. John Doe is the last surviving child of Springwood, Ohio, home of Elm Street. Home of Freddy Krueger. Freddy uses John Doe, letting him escape his clutches and run off to Maggies youth center. Freddy hopes to bring back some children to help him escape Springwood. More specifically, Freddy wants John to bring back HIS child. Does it work? Does Freddy escape and start his slaughter anew in a new town? Or is this truly the final nightmare? Well we all know it wasn't the last we saw of good old Freddy, but hey, the world could always use more Freddy.

Orozco The Embalmer
Orozco is definitely not my usual forte. Its a Mondo style documentary about an embalmer in the worst part of Columbia. We see how the people here react to death, we see how Orozco works, and we see it all in a gritty no holds barred fashion. If you can't handle the sight of dead people, flesh being cut, guts and organs, and the sound of insides sloshing around in a mixture of blood and water in an open abdomen cavity, you should probably turn away. If you can handle all that, tread on my friend. This movie was definitely a test for me. I guess I passed. I don't know if that's good or bad.

After a two week hiatus...
It's been a while everyone. Sorry about the break in posts. I'll try to keep it from happening again. A few personal things happened and I found it very hard to be motivated to do much beyond moping around. But I'm back. Things are getting better and I have the drive to see this all through. Maybe I'll try to play catchup with the posts, still tossing that idea around, but for now we are (hopefully) back to our regularly scheduled horror, gore, violence, and mayhem. Sorry once again! Thanks for being awesome and sticking around!
