Demons

I've heard of Demons before. I knew it was a movie that was supposed to have a decent amount of gore. But I never really took the time to read about Demons. When I decided to watch it today, I was pleasantly surprised. I went in expecting a sorta typical possession movie, or maybe a normal monster movie affair. What I got, however, was a high energy Italian Splatter flick! Get ready for some blood, gore, and demon puke cause here it comes!

Demons is about a bunch of people that get vague invitations to see a movie in what was an abandoned theatre. No one knows about the movie and none knew that there was even a theatre there in the first place. They go to the show to find out that its a horror movie about Nostradamus predicting the coming of the demons and a mask that brings them about. Oddly enough, there was a mask in the lobby of the theatre that looks just like the one in the movie.

A man in the movie jokingly places the mask on his face and when he removes it, a small scratch is left on his face. Through the spilling of his blood, he slowly turns into a demon. Well... a prostitute did just the same in the lobby of the movie theatre. As the movie goes on, she heads to the ladies room to take care of the bleeding, the wound bubbles and puffs up, finally exploding in globs of puss. She screams in horror as the once tiny wound turns into a gaping puss fountain. Her street walking buddy notices that she has been gone for a bit and decides to check on her. What she finds in the bathroom is not longer her cohort in copulation, but a blood thirsty, ooze mouthed horror from hell!

Demonic transformation is caused by being wounded, much like zombification from a zombie bite, so you can imagine that things go south fast. When the demons finally make their way to the larger body of people, all hell breaks loose. Scalps tearing, eyes gouged out, make-out strangling, torn throats, fingers bitten on, and at one point a demon gets knocked off a balcony to the seats below, a woman was hiding in the seats, and as he lands he begins spewing a huge amount of satanic vomit right onto her.

More people come into the theatre as a group of punks ducks in to hide from the cops. As they sneak inside, one gets loose. Out into the world. You can see where this is going. Some more death, cool transformation effects, and slimy mirrors later we get one of the greatest scenes ever. Our main man has to save his girl from the horde. How does he do it? Dirtbike, katana, and an '80s buttrock soundtrack! He scoops her onto the back of the bike and flies around the theatre hacking and slashing away at the horde with his katana. Limbs fly to a catchy drum beat, heads are sliced to some screaming vocals, and bodies are impaled to some lightning solos! Its every mans dream to save his lady from demons like that!

That doesn't last and the man crashes, but just as their luck seems to be running out a helicopter falls through the ceiling. He tries to start it up, the blades cutting demon face from demon skull in the process, but no luck. He finds a grappling hook and makes the decision to use it to climb up to the roof through the hole the helicopter left behind.

On the ceiling they are ambushed by the man that was passing out the tickets... chrome face! The girl stabs him in the back with the hook as he pushes the boy back into the hole. The boy climbs back up and they both struggle to lower his face into two broken pieces of rebar, slowly impaling his head. They look at the world around them... ruins. Death everywhere. The demons have descended upon the city. Chaos everywhere. They are picked up by a family that has managed to survive and are escaping the city, but as they get out onto lonely roads, the girl suddenly transforms. They blast her in the face, leaving her twisted body on the road. It ends.

The effects in the movie are great, plenty of blood and sick stuff here to look at. The movie is pretty fast paced and never really bogs down. Tons of fun, tons of gore. Check it out.
